Safaa Erruas was born in 1976 in Tétouan, Morocco.
Safaa Erruas’s work is characterized by the predominance of the colour white and recurrence of materials such as paper, cotton, strips of gauze, pearls, needles, glass and razor blades. In a work that considers intuition and formal research as a source of creation, Erruas elaborates, in meticulous and ritualized gestures, works on paper and installations. Between visible and invisible, consciousness and unconsciousness, fragility and violence, her works act as a window opening onto a world of tension that questions our deep intimacy.
Upon graduation from the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tétouan in 1998, Safaa Erruas began her artistic journey and developed a singular approach. Her work has been exhibited at international museums and institutions, in many countries, amongst them, Morocco, France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, USA, Australia, Cuba and India… In 2018, on the occasion of her 20-year career, L’Atelier 21 has edited the artist’s first monograph, entitled Le temps parcouru
